The homeowners wanted to update their traditional kitchen with a more functional layout while maintaining the timeless character of their Shaker Heights home. They were looking for improved storage, better flow to the adjacent family room, and finishes that would complement the home’s classic architecture. 

Hurst Design Build Remodel reconfigured the kitchen layout with a new appliance arrangement and widened the opening between the kitchen and family room to create a stronger connection between the spaces. Custom Riceland cabinetry, premium natural stone, updated lighting, and new hardwood flooring transformed the kitchen while preserving the home’s original architectural character. Improvements also extended into the laundry room and hallway, creating a cohesive first-floor renovation.

• New oak hardwood flooring throughout the kitchen and hallway, paired with Baird Brothers trim and a Sherwin Williams color palette 

• Decorative pendant lighting, under cabinet LED lighting, and in-cabinet accent lighting that provide layered illumination 

• Top Knobs cabinet hardware that completes the kitchen’s classic, refined aesthetic
