About This Project

The Homeowner’s Challenge

The homeowners wanted to turn a dated, closed-off kitchen into an open, bright space that works as the center of the home. It needed to handle both everyday family life and entertaining while preserving the house’s classic character.

Hurst’s Approach

Hurst Design Build Remodel reworked the layout around a large central island and added an open archway to the adjacent living room, opening up the flow between spaces. The team chose a classic material palette that feels current without leaning on trends. We achieved this by repurposing an underutilized powder room and bedroom as the new kitchen space. The old kitchen became the new laundry room and pantry. There is a new addition at the rear of the home, featuring a large great room and primary suite.
