Lakewood Historic Kitchen Reinvented

Kitchens

About This Project

The Homeowner's Challenge

The homeowners wanted to reinvent the first floor of their historic Lakewood home by replacing a compartmentalized layout with an open, functional living space. Their goals included creating a spacious kitchen for entertaining, adding a first-floor guest bath, incorporating a private primary suite, improving storage with a mudroom, and modernizing the home’s mechanical systems while preserving its original character.

Hurst's Approach

Hurst Design Build Remodel completely reimagined the home’s first floor by removing walls, relocating the kitchen, and creating an open floor plan that naturally connects the kitchen, dining, and living areas. Structural improvements, updated electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and insulation systems laid the foundation for a home that functions as beautifully as it looks. Throughout the renovation, architectural details and carefully selected finishes were used to honor the home’s historic roots while providing the comfort and convenience of modern living.
