Kitchens

The homeowners wanted to update their original Shaker Heights kitchen while preserving the charm and architectural character of their classic home. Their goals were to create a more open and functional layout, increase storage, improve natural light, and provide better connections between the kitchen, dining room, and outdoor living areas.

Hurst Design Build Remodel reimagined the floor plan by removing the existing pantry, creating a built-in breakfast nook with custom storage, and improving the flow throughout the first floor. New Pella windows and a sliding patio door brought additional daylight into the space while maintaining the home’s traditional character. A balanced mix of painted and stained Omega cabinetry, premium countertops, and handcrafted millwork created a kitchen that feels refined, welcoming, and designed for everyday living.

• Two-tone Omega cabinetry featuring painted perimeter cabinets and a stained maple island

• Fantasy Brown quartzite island paired with HanStone quartz perimeter countertops

• Bosch double wall ovens, gas cooktop, and dishwasher, Samsung counter-depth refrigerator, Sharp microwave drawer, and Elica range hood

• Built-in breakfast nook with custom storage and integrated utility cabinetry

• Elkay sink paired with a Moen Arbor touch-activated faucet

• MSI tile backsplash that complements the warm, transitional design

• Pella windows and a sliding patio door that flood the kitchen with natural light and strengthen the connection to the backyard

• Baird Brothers trim and a Sherwin Williams color palette that preserve the home’s classic architectural character

The completed renovation honors the home’s traditional Shaker Heights architecture while providing the functionality expected in a modern family kitchen. Brighter, more open, and thoughtfully organized, the new space combines custom storage, premium finishes, and timeless design to create a welcoming gathering place for everyday living and effortless entertaining.
