The Homeowner’s Challenge

The homeowners loved their unique lakefront home and its incredible views, but the layout no longer reflected the way they lived. The first floor felt compartmentalized, with walls separating the kitchen, dining room, living room, and sunroom. The kitchen lacked storage, workspace, and connection to the surrounding living areas, making entertaining difficult. They wanted a home that embraced the lake views while creating a brighter, more open environment for gathering with family and friends. 

Hurst’s Approach

Hurst Design Build Remodel completely reimagined the main living spaces by removing walls between the kitchen, dining room, breakfast area, and living room to create an open-concept floor plan centered around the lake views. A large custom island became the focal point of the kitchen, while structural modifications, new windows, and expanded openings allowed natural light to flow throughout the home. The renovation also included custom millwork, a redesigned staircase, an updated fireplace, new flooring, and carefully selected finishes that blend classic architectural details with a fresh, modern aesthetic.

• New windows and expanded openings that maximize natural light and showcase the home’s lakefront views, all finished with a Sherwin-Williams color palette
