Westlake Patio Addition

Exterior and Outdoor Living

About This Project

The Homeowner's Challenge

The homeowners wanted to expand their outdoor living space with a covered patio that would provide protection from the elements while creating a comfortable place for dining, entertaining, and relaxing. They envisioned an addition that looked like it had always been part of the home, with architectural details and natural materials that blended seamlessly with the existing exterior.

Hurst's Approach

Hurst Design Build Remodel designed a covered patio that extends the home’s roofline and creates a natural transition from the interior to the outdoors. The structure features exposed beams, a stained wood ceiling, and durable exterior finishes that complement the home’s architecture. By carefully matching the existing roof and incorporating premium materials, the new outdoor living area feels like an original part of the home while providing year-round comfort for outdoor gatherings.

Key Design Features

  • Covered patio addition with an extended roofline that blends with the existing home
  • Stained knotty pine tongue-and-groove ceiling
  • White oak decorative beams
  • Exposed structural rafters creating an open, architectural feel
  • Composite wrapped columns, fascia, and trim

Outcome
